Bounty hunting. It's about hunting! You shouldn't care so much about how the job gets done as much as just ensuring the job gets done. Yet having a Corvette in your wing does rather remove the sport from the event. Imagine being part of a firework display... You let off your single rocket... and the guy next to you launches fifteen all at once.
Imagine being part of laser show... you with your office laser pointer, and the guy next to you turns up with Pink Floyd's stage rig. (If you don't know Mr Pink Floyd, look him up in your database's classical section. Circa 1970.)
So there you are enjoying getting in close to the back of a wanted Anaconda, getting into that spot between the shoulder blades where most of his weapons can't reach... proud of your piloting skills... when suddenly you're blinded by the light... the light of enormous lasers all around you cutting holes in the hull of your opponent.
You'll get an equal share when the bounty is claimed, the criminal is despatched, your service to society complete. It shouldn't matter to you that there was little style in the manner of despatch.
But it does. It strangely does.
Wing with a Corvette and win every battle. But wing with a couple of smaller ships, enjoy every battle, but expect higher repair bills and the odd retreat.
I know which I prefer.
