Preparations

I stopped counting the asteroids I blew up the last few days, but I'm pretty good at identifying fissured rocks and setting charges now. About a month ago I outfitted my Python with mining equipment and started looking for interesting spots to improve my credit balance while actually working towards another goal. After hundreds of tons of void opals, alexandrit, musgravit, low temperature diamonds, monazite and exactly 11 tonnes of painite, I finally got invited to Prospector's Rest. Selene Jean, who exclusively deals with miners, took 10 tonnes of my Painite and left me one tonne for the market.
Then I brought my ship into her hangar and she started working on the hull, strengthening my Krait's armour, hull integrity and deep-plated the whole thing. It's amazing what she can do, and after seeing the result I got to say, it was well worth the effort.
In 7 days the fleet will head into the void and I'll be with it, sitting in the tin can that is my Krait Phantom. For about a month I am preparing the ship I will spend about half a year in. Light-weighting and stripping down components to reduce mass, getting the FSD tweaked for more jump range, hardening shields and armour to minimize risk, rechecking and overhauling systems, internals and sanitary facilities. There are a few things on a space ship you really don't want to blow up in your face when far away from any kind of workshop or cleaning service...
Still a few things left to do, but the Clairvoyance is almost in the shape I want it for the Distant Worlds expedition.
