Things are Definitely Picking up.

There's a lot to be said for deep space exploration. When I'm in the mood, I'm a big fan. Unusual groupings of stellar objects, multiple stars in a single system and small moons within a hair's breadth of each other still maintaining their astronomical choreography. I've snapped some pictures of the really interesting sights I've seen but nothing I've seen out here in the void between the Heart and Soul Nebulae and the Bubble compares to the news back home. The Thargoids have returned.
Between that and the various generational ships cropping up here and there, a lot of things are crying out for attention. The issue for me is that I'm not even halfway back to the Bubble from my trip out to the Heart and Soul Nebulae and my current ETA is three to four months away. Since that estimate involves taking the time to scan every non-asteroid object in each star system I visit, I should be able to reduce that time considerably by simply scanning each system on entry and then moving on.
The problem there is that this mission was supposed to fulfill three requirements:
- Visit an asteroid base and get some photos of it.
- Complete enough scans to increase my Exploration rank to Elite.
- Bolster my bank account to kit out the Anaconda.
While I have visited and fully scanned over two hundred star systems on my return journey so far, it is taking an inordinate amount of time. Only a tiny fraction of the systems I've seen on the way home so far have been explored so I should get at least the same 10MCr just for basic system scans - plus whatever the 200 or so complete system scans are worth. So item three is kinda done too.
That should easily be enough to help out with a decent shield generator and power systems. Basic system scans and no more should see me back in the Bubble within a matter of weeks.
