Starting a Commander's Log

Having taken the Sidewinder out on a couple of runs, I decided to have a go instead at the Eagle that was also on offer. It wasn't berthed at Baker's Prospect with the Sidewinder so I had to get to Beagle's Landing 2 to pick it up. I sold off the Sidewinder and paid for a few upgrades to the Eagle with the proceeds. Here are a few of the highlights from the Eagle's maiden voyage:
- The responsiveness of the controls was surprisingly light
- Powering up the weapons immediately shut off life support and the shields
- There's a glitch in the docking computer software that left me sat "waiting" for eight and a half minutes before I took control
The Frame Shift Drive, the Power Distributor and the Power Plant have all been upgraded using the money earned from that trip, so no more power failures when I need to defend myself... The issue with the Docking Computer was a strange one and has not reoccurred since the system was purged as part of the power systems upgrade.
I also had the funds to beef up the armour plating on the ship too. Reinforced alloys certainly make me feel safer than the stock hull plating!
Think I'll stick with the Eagle for a while. I like the feel of it and can't wait to get some serious gadgetry on board. I've named the ship Rotarran after the command ship of a childhood hero of mine. May she bring me as much luck!
