Moving on and Thoughts on the Type 7 Transporter.

Following my return from the Barnard's Loop expedition a little over two weeks ago, I've been taking part in various missions to bolster both my bank balance and my standing with the Federation. While I had promised myself faithfully that I would not sell the Golden Hind to progress my way onto a bigger and better ship, a few days ago the lure proved too much and I sold both the Cobra MkIV I had bought with the proceeds from my trip to Barnard's Loop and the Golden Hind herself.I've heard from various pilots and commanders that the Lakon Transporter ships are decent stepping stones to larger craft so I went ahead and bought myself a Type 7. The ships handles reasonably well at sublight speeds but it's at FTL that the problems start.
First of all, potential Type 7 owners need to be aware of heat problems on off-the-shelf models. The first jump I made from outside a station - at considerable distance from the local star - saw the heat climb to 80% before the FSD engaged. I managed to resolve that issue by upgrading the Power Plant (which improves heat dissipation rates) but it still gets pretty hot.
The Rogue Trader now has 152T of cargo which I'm almost able to fill on the first leg of the new Trade Route I have located. I'll keep plugging away at it until I can make a full run, I think. I've been reasonably lucky with native pirates so far, only having been interdicted once and pursued to a station once. I owe heartfelt thanks to the quick response of the System Security Defence ships that ran to my aid outside the space station. That was a fight that was over VERY quickly!
