Commander's Log - 9/22/3304 - An Unexpected Upturn - Scylla System

Commander's Log. September the 22nd, 3304.I really need to keep up these logs more often. Then again, recent events make me less likely to want to record my experiences. AS one of the few people on the research vessel Gnosis during its failed jump to the Cone Sector, I consider myself lucky that I disembarked when only a single Thargoid Hydra was present and made a run for it. I was neither prepared for a combat situation with Thargoids nor was I willing. I took as many civillian scientists in my cargo bay in my jumps back home to Scylla.
Since then I have stayed closed to home. I once supported Aisling Duval in her seemingly joyous looming wedding as a loyal Imperial Prince in the Navy. That busted. The Gnosis Cone Expedition was ambushed. I since have switch allegiances to Li-Yong Rui, though I doubt I will maintain that for much longer. I may finally opt out of this on going struggle for power in the core systems.
I've rarely left Scylla in recent days. Leaving my ships in Edison Port while I take surface shore leave on my homeworld's daytime terminus cities. And why should I? Scylla is a remote high security system. Eurybia, Anima, Beta Caeli, Omicron Columbia... all are bigger, more populated systems than us. 2 Billion souls live in Scylla, but even a millenia ago, Earth outpaced that on one planet, let along 11 and their satellites. We're nobodies out here.
Though our sister system, Anima, has put out a call for computer components... something Scylla exports! Komorov Point already had the best coffee (made with Edison Port-exported beans) in the system, and now her major export is in high demand. On the one hand, that's great for business for us Scyllans. On the other, I can't help but I feel this call for orders from Anima Electronics Industries on behalf of Herculean Machines seems... I don't know. The amount of rogue AIs recently disturbs me. I've been to the Guardian Ruins. I've read the data. I know they were wiped out by a rogue AI. Have we, through Ram Tah's research development, unleashed this AI on human societies now? I hope the Duradrive is not some trap from an artifical lifeform...
But for the moment, my hold is full of commodities that aren't Scyllan Coffee for once. And good business for our system is good for our people.
