What have I supported? Until now I've believed in the Empire. I don't agree with everything it's done, but I felt at least it was honest about what it was unlike the other superpowers. The Federation is a Democracy that only values the vote of the credit. The Alliance claims to be a haven, but we all know they helped the Thargoids once, and even if they regret that act, its still one that may have doomed humanity in the long run. Can't forgive that.

But the Empire has always toed the line on Morality. I've supported Princess Aisling Duval and for change in the Empire. But change moving forward, not backwards. That's why I opposed Nova Imperium. Why I created that poster...

... The... the news broke to me while I was fuel scooping between the Omega and Eagle Nebulas. Current location is... uh... [Computerized beeps] Gria Drye VO-X d2-170, Planet 1. I had to land as soon as the ship was done scooping. I needed to pace. Can't do it in Zero G.

I wanted a united Empire. A strong Empire that could contribute in the fight against the Thargoids. Not summary executions on the Senate floor of not just a figure head, but the Senators supporting him. Imperator Mordecai got what he deserved, but... Not like this. Not like this. You are not the good guys simply by being opposed to the bad guys. You show yourself to be the good guys by being better than the bad guys.

Emperor Duval... Arissa... she doesn't deserve that title. Rule of law does not come from shows of force. It comes from shows of fairness and compassion. Even if it had been a show trial, it would have been something. Walking in, practically arm in arm with Denton Patreus... For the first time we saw Arissa, Patreus, Aisling, and Torval united and this was what we got. The Empire is far more fragile than we thought. Summary executions do not inspire faith in a leader. They inspire fear of the present. Of what we are.

That fear is evident. I've heard of various Imperial Auxillaries defecting to Nova Imperium. Others have distanced themselves from the Emperor, or the other major factional leaders of the Empire. Arissa didn't stop a civil war. She's now started one. The Empire is cracking and many of its auxiliaries like myself are in the black of space for Distant Worlds 2. We do not expect to return to the Empire we left.

I fought Nova Imperium for stability for Empire. I've made it worse....
