LOG: EXPLORATION #2; LONG HAUL HOME
20 Apr 2018Suts
I've been through Colonia and stared into the centre itself, and it's been a good run out here, but I can't help but feel so drained and constantly on edge. I can't wait to be back at Suzuki, in the comfort of Gloriana's cockpit again, shooting down the bad guys, doing what I do best.At time of writing this I am currently a little over 10,000 Light Years away from home, and I haven't come across anything good in the past 3,000Lyr or so, which is frustrating to say the least.
This trip has certainly been an experience for me, my Diamondback has become very close to me, and a quote from an archived film I remembered fondly has a quote that's very fitting for my Pekoe. "This is my Diamondback, there are many like it, but this one is mine." Together we have made a name for myself and hopefully Tengu in the cartography department, I have a total of 6 Earth-like worlds to my name as of logging this entry. I have immense respect for the little ship, as she's completely self sustainable out here and proven herself to be very rugged and reliable countless times. I will refuse to give her a new lick of paint upon return, as a memento of this journey and a testament to her resilience.
As for the dreaded space madness, I fear it's settled in and unlikely to go any time soon. I've calmed my nerves as of now, but I feel the urge to lose myself to the void, see faces among the back drop of stars, the paranoia of an entire nebula stalking me, but nothing compares to the insane giggling and obsessive behaviour I find myself in upon finding a profitable system, the mere sight of an ammonia or water world is enough to put me in a giggling frenzy of glee. It's as if i'm a different man during these moments.
The warmth and comfort of Imperial space and my fellow commanders is something I am more than eager to return to, and is my drive to return as soon as possible, should arrive tomorrow just after tea-time if all goes well, and perhaps the Pilot's Federation will recognise me as an Elite explorer once I hand in my data, who knows. I certainly know i'll be taking my beloved Fer-Der-Lance for engineering, and I will see about lending my efforts against the Thargoid threat some time soon after arriving home.
Again I go to sleep, cramped and with much on my mind, let's hoping my near ambitions will keep the loneliness from sending me even further down the rabbit hole.
