Day 18 - Failures, Fuel Rats, and Finances

11 Dec 2015OliviaVespera
I don't update this as often as I should.

While travelling to the distant Aksyonov Orbital station in the Pacalite station in my new if economical Adder, I decided to update my logs on what I have been doing.

An adder you say? What happened to the Zombie Wasp?

sigh

I screwed up badly. Really badly and lost her. I overdrew on my insurance and I think I lost about 14-18 million worth of assets.
I couldn't resurrect her...

But that was recent history, and still is ... recent history

It's been 10 days since my last log and a lot has happened.

My faith in aisling duval in unwavering although I still deal in the imperial slave trade from time to time. (It's a little too lucrative)

I have studied up on recent imperial history, especially regarding the duval dynasty and relatively recent turmoil regarding succession in legitamacy.

And I joined the fuel rats.

I think I've found a home that i could be a part of. The Fuel Rats, a rag tag bunch of rescue operators who refuel ships at no cost to their clients. They'd go anywhere to help fuel your ship if you're stuck out in the black.

But Olivia, You're a trader for hire. Credits have been your second greatest love. Why would you even do this?

Because I'm lonely. It's lonely in the black. Heading out to a suspected gold rush on my own was lonely, running that route to earn millions was lonely. The trade routes are supremely so. Sure I could dock at a station and meet some strangers at the bar but most of them are boring, uninteresting and ... station dwellers.

It's not a bad life, living in orbit- I've lived that life before I got my license - but ever since i've been a pilot, getting to travel all of known space. How could I be tied down? I had the Zombie Wasp. I had the Zombie Wasp.

The Fuel Rats gave me a good enough purpose. I rose through basic training quickly and even got certified for dispatch duty. For those of you not in the know, dispatchers are tasked with scheduling, and assigning available fuel rats to clients. They are the human voice that consoles the client that help is on the way and if they do exactly as they say, they'll make it out just fine. Sometimes they deal with several clients at the same time. The most I've done so far was six though Commander Rebecca Hail had done something along the lines of 10. I hope to beat that record some day. I was happy.

I had my asp outfitted well, I had a community I could depend on, I was happy. Even if i wasn't making as much as I used to, I was happy. I guess happy people start to become bored and proud. Next thing i know, i decided to retake up bounty hunting and sunk all my credits into reoutfitting the Zombie Wasp for combat.

I made a mistake, I blew it, I lost all of my insurance on something I thought i was ready for. And now she's gone. I was back to square one in LHS 3447 in a shoddy sidewinder. I couldn't take it. I buried my head in CQC simulations to earn a few measly credits and sway my shame over my loss.

It's only been a day since that low point in my career and I'm back. I haven't lost everything. I still have my trade connections. I made a plan, and I'm moving up the ship chain. Soon I'll have a type 6 again, then an asp. then I'll be back on my way to getting a type 7.

I think that's enough for this log.
