5-26-3305: They'd Fight Over a Ham Sandwich.

26 May 2019Ingrid Elfridr
There's a reason I rarely take time off, and prefer to work an 18 over a 12 hour shift; I get bored far too easily. Was finally cleared for patrol nearly two weeks ago, I couldn't tear ass out of Reightler Dock soon enough and hit the mining sites. Luckily Kawinski lent a hand and took over in my absence so the situation regarding security in Draguan Nu pretty much went unchanged, somebody is due for a promotion. A part of that meant there's still no shortage of idiots to shoot at, so luckily work still hasn't become boring. The political matters on the other hand... there's a large reason that despite my alliances that I've always remained independent. I am good at politics because of how we ran our clans back home, but it's a matter I would rather stay away from. Politics of small groups are one thing, but when the scale gets larger no longer am I playing with fire, but practically handling those old dynamite sticks while lighting a cigarette with a flamethrower. However it seems for once a monkey has learned to breathe water... imagine my shock.

Why did said monkey learn to breathe water? Bad intel that caused us to expand into another faction's territory. Needless to say it was the first time in awhile that I'd spoken with the Dictator, but I swear the guy doesn't spend enough time in the field. Sure I get it, he has all sorts of crap that he has to govern, and that's precisely why I stopped having any involvement in months ago. At least that's what my intent was. Being stuck aboard a starport for six weeks on medical leave will get you sucked back in. Luckily none of those metaphorical dynamite sticks got lit, and I had a diplomatic excuse for spending three days out at a Guardian ruin to collect the remainder of the blueprints needed for that donger of a Gauss cannon.

Speaking of which, it's absolutely amazing that people will fight over any stick in the mud just because there's some focus on it. There has been all sorts of traffic out in these systems since the information hit the mainstream channels, I've even met others here and there while at these sites. Even assisted a few. Never did any huge conflict break out over any of it. Now that there's a fancy megaship making trips out to the area all of a sudden its the site of the latest spat between rivaling factions. Sorry folks, but a stick in the mud isn't much worth fighting over unless you are personally invested in that stick or the mud around it. With Thargoids tearing a new hole in the core systems these things seem pretty trivial.  It's like paying more attention to a bar brawl aboard some obscure orbital station that hardly anybody has docked at for months over a starport that's being face-hugged by Hydras. Either way who am I to judge, I just poke fun at what in my opinion is pure folly.

Heheh... reminds me of crap back home, except it was usually over livestock that was stolen just for fun.
Do you like it?
