10-23-3306: Historical Definition of Insanity Strikes Again...

23 Oct 2020Ingrid Elfridr
It has been so many months since I've written anything except for filing piles of field reports and other paperwork, hell I just left Draguan Nu earlier today after stopping in on business just for the reason of doing that very thing as we have been busy in Heheng lately. It gave me very little time to pay any attention to the situation unfolding with the Marlinists other than glancing at the headlines daily before heading out on the day's sorties.

As I know I've stated likely more than once in the past each side in a war or a political situation such as this one, and yet again it is repeating things already done and expecting a different result. Keltin has been sending me snippets of the forum conversations since this morning and there is a lot of interesting discussion going on. My opinion is simply based on historical examples that seem to occur time after time.

First off, the Marlinists are under attack not so much for their political beliefs, but more of the fact that it is retaliation for these people to exercise the level of idiocy that is causing them to metaphorically burn their own neighborhoods to the ground. As much as I do not like the Empire or Patreus himself I can understand the heavy-handed response, we were forced to do the same to supporters of Imperial proxies here. Only difference is we did not give them time to run as we did not warn of retaliation. The Marlinists have proven they will resort to terrorism if not given their way, and even if they were it would not change the circumstances. Giving concession in situations such as these only emboldens such people.

All this brings me to discuss the Federation's part in this. It is true that their principles are basically to safeguard the rights of others, but they, like the Empire, have far too much blood on their hands to give these words any clout to anybody other than the naive. If anything it looks like a PR stunt on their part. "We saved the Marlinists from the terrible Patty-Poo, yay us! Vote for (insert corrupt politician's name here)!" is basically what I'm seeing. On the other side of the coin they could be genuine, which many people, including myself, seriously doubt. What I do know is if they allow the Marlinists into their systems without assimilating they will soon be dealing with the same issue. The Empire would rightly begin laughing their heads off if this is how it plays out over time.

Next thing you know you'll be seeing reports similar to an archived one from a North American independent news outlet from  way the hell back in the year 2020: "Bolivia: Socialists Declare Election Win With Just 6 Percent of Votes Counted". Yeah, we can see how that will pan out amongst those who are capable of any critical thought.

To be fair, if the Marlinists really wanted to go about things in a more logical way they would have gotten into contact with the Federation years prior to this mess to assist them in establishing their own ports in their own systems instead of detonating Thargoid fart bombs within Imperial starports. They would have likely gotten the resources and assistance to do so, but this wasn't the choice they made. Now there are people in Imperial space who never had involvement, and now have no rights in the systems that have martial law as a result of a group of jackasses playing with regime change that is bound to fail. If I didn't know better I'd say that these Imperial rulers are getting off on their own drama more than they do having liaisons with royal slaves.

As far as things look from the perspective of many that bed of theirs would be much easier to lay in if it wasn't covered in Thargoid shit.
