4-27-3307: Here we are- Another Historical Definition of Insanity!

I have been staying out of many of the political matters going on in the Bubble, a combination of simply being too busy with matters regarding work and the paperwork that comes with it. Not only that, but perhaps it is a bit of apathy on my part that the mistakes made by past societies seems to never be learned. This is heavily due to the fact that politics is sociopaths and psychopaths fighting over control of the sane. In a rare occasion, mostly due to Chief Sanchez becoming annoyed with having to handle PR matters and local media mostly on his own, asked me to weigh in on it. I prefer to keep myself out of the public eye, mostly for work reasons, but I do have a few things to say on this matter. For at least a couple of years now I have been making posts regarding insanity on a historical scale. We all know its most basic definition by a little saying that has been around for millenia. This surveillance of everyday citizens fits right into that category. If I was keeping this shit in a filing cabinet like back in the day I would need a half dozen more.
Years ago I mentioned a man who lived in the Roman Empire, and was working his fields when a state of emergency hit the Empire. He actually held a position within Rome's government at the time as well, and stepped in as was required of him. When the time of emergency came to an end for the time being he went back to being a farmer for the remainder of his years. This same empire fell due to not just its own decadent nature, but also because the empire turned its tyranny, which had primarily been focused outward inward on its own citizens. The English and American empires fell in much the same manner. These empires had their Neros who fiddled away as they watched them burn.
This is no different unfortunately. I'm saying nothing of an inevitable demise, but am seeing the same pattern of repeating the same madness and expecting a different result. I won't elevate New Republic of Draguan Nu above any other dictatorship, because hell that is what we are. After the fall of the Brotherhood of Draguan Nu we, like any other dictatorship, had a system wide purge of much of its members and supporters. This is not a point of pride, believe me, as it was done out of necessity. During this time we did use a lot of systemwide surveillance. Luckily NR Sec, then the RPD, made this easy for us by giving us a list of the folks they had already been keeping an eye on. Once the Brotherhood purge was concluded the surveillance was then limited to public spaces as it had been previously.
Another important point comes down to a famous quote by a respected leader of the late American Empire, John Franklin Kennedy: "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable". This has proven itself absolutely true on many fronts that can be clearly seen in the history of any civilization. As much as it annoys Chief Sanchez we have to allow it. The Lakon Spaceways debacle is a clear example of this. We have no problem with people expressing their opinions, concerns and problems with our governing. However, as has been proven in the past, the instant a protest turns into arson we lock the place down and let them know they overstepped their bounds with us. This, over time, developed into a basic understanding that the people know they will be heard until they begin torching their prefabs.
The fact of the matter is that when a government, no matter what it calls itself, begins to view its own citizens as terrorists then understandably as a steamrolling of their basic right to be left alone and make one's own decisions the governed become ungovernable. At this point the people at the top can only hold onto power by bombarding its population with delusions that oftentimes border on Midaeval superstition. That on its own makes those governing delusional. Those two working in concert tend to wind up burning to the ground while the Neros fiddle away.
