Reporting From the Front Line

Dyson City, ParesaIt has been four days since I first docked at Dyson City, the headquarters of the Nova Imperium. It took me several hours before I was able to sign up for the defence effort, so many pilots had flocked to the cause, and not all of them Imperials either, there were plenty of independents flocking to stop this unwarranted incursion by the Federation, and there were even several Federal accents to be heard here, as pilots who are usually pro-Federation have declared themselves independent and stated their support for the Imperial side in protest at Hudson and Archer's aggressive tactics. As a result the Nova Imperium forces have so far managed to hold their own against the invaders through skill and numbers, with many friendly pilots happy to invite you onto their wing, allowing us to coordinate our attacks and tear through the feared spec ops forces that have often sent pilots reeling in their wake - and Hudson is going to get a hefty repair bill for all those damaged Farragut-class cruisers we have sent running. After the disheartening experience of LTT 1935 it fills me with immense joy to see what can happen when the Empire and her allies work together to repel this Federal menace. Yet we must not get complacent, whilst the turnout for this war is indeed above average for the Empire, rumours also have it that the Federal side is for once struggling to find pilots to flock to their cause – looks like the pro-Federation spin usually put out by GalNet has failed to work its charms – this act of aggression was far too blatant to be justified by many who have previously rallied under the Federation's banner. A few hours ago there was a celebratory mood as we scored a decisive victory in a key battle, severely hindering Federal attempts to get a foothold in this system. After this rumours had circulated that many pilots had gone home, particularly after some complained about the paltry rewards offered to pilots for their services to Nova Imperium. So far there have been few actual deserters, people here mostly realising that principles count more than rewards, and indeed many pilots have now made hundreds of millions of credits through massacre mission rewards as well as official combat bonds, so they will still be exceptionally well paid by the end of this conflict. It is important to note even amid this seemingly imminent victory that when the next conflict comes the Federation may be able to muster greater forces, which means the Empire must do the same.
All that aside, it has been immensely satisfying seeing the Fednecks get caught with their tails between their legs, my Edge of Sanity making short work of small and large ships alike as hulls tear asunder and powerplants erupt. It seems that a long awaited victory is in the grasp of Nova Imperium and by proxy, the Empire, yet I will be ready to keep fighting until the last Federal forces have high waked out of our system. As long as our forces keep up this level of commitment, I can see victory awaiting us very soon indeed.
