CMND Log 021: Pru Aescs

Pru Aescs NC-M etc etc etc blah blah. Waypoint 3. It took me the whole week to get to waypoint 3, but only because of the backwards way I took here. As previously stated I was off the beaten path when the second waypoint was announced, I approached the locations coming in the opposite way, starting a Rohini and moving backwards to the points of interest and then cutting across space to catch back up. This got me numerous discoveries, almost every system was a discovery, however non very lucrative. I think I had a couple water worlds and a handful of terra-formable mettalic worlds. It just wasn't as lucrative as the bottom of the galaxy, but when I turn in I will at least write my name across the stars.Currently twilight at Waypoint 3, some type of abandoned settlement. I heard rumors among the fleet saying hostiles were sited here, which gets me curious. I wonder who is out here this far and who cares enough about this ancient settlement to defend it. I'm taking my SRV out now to go investigate. Well, investigate is a bit strong of a word I'm gonna rubber neck.
Took a cursory glance at the itinerary for Waypoint 4. I'll adjust it when I return from my excursion. Stand-by.
-I Underestimated the distant to this conflux site, looking at a 30 min drive and at least one mountain to climb. Looked so close when I was flying over.
-About halfway to the site now, SRV halfway destroyed. Its very hilling, and some of the edges have very steep far sides which can be pretty surprising. I'm seeing ships in the sky dropping from frameshift, so I'm close. Thought I saw a lazer hit the sky but probably just flare from a FS engine. Got someone flying over head now, probably look for a spot to land like I was.
-I guess he gave up, FSed out. Switched my lights off to approach the site, Nightvision will hopefully help me know if I'm about to jump off a mountainside.
-4.5 clicks out, lots of activity at the site, 3 ships seem to be circling, patrolling, landing. I'll watch for a while once I get visual on the site.
-they were gone by the time I achieved visual. Lame. These hostile contact rumors are probably just space madness sitting in. Boredom is your biggest enemy out here, I'm sure before we're done we are going to here more rumors like this.
-Non-Fleet trio of ships showed up, circled the site as if they were waiting landing clearance. Eventually they moved on. Approaching the site.
-Oh, there are comms log uplinks online down here, these ships must be scanning them. I'll take a look myself, maybe something interesting. I'm also hearing noise from the buildings, sounds like welding. Space Ghosts, obviously.
-Nothing of note, just spooky logs of a doomed ship. Calling the Bee down, I'm getting off this rock.
Y'know, why can't I have the ship land automatically like when I recall it? It picks the best spot to land if there is one to be had. Anyway, I think I'm going to head straight to the fish eye nebula and then hook back around to the Rusty Net. I may offset my Z position as well, just to bring in that much more data.
