CMND Log 034: Beagle Point

Well, I made it.  Honestly it's a bit anti-climactic to get out here when I've spent months gazing into black holes, doing death defying landings on high G planets, investigating mysterious signals in the darkness, fighting deep space pirate, etc, only to have it end with a normal floating rock.  The view from the abyss is still quite breathtaking, in any regard.

More interesting note, on the way in close to BP there is a system with an interesting star orbit.  It is a binary star with a binary orbit of another star, like a trio.  My frameshift locked unto the binary stars' gravity, but it spit me out way, way, too close to the other star, a flash of light made it seem like I actually flew through it coming out of witchspace!  My radar was solidly red, the exclusion zone was all around me and my heat went out of control.  No harm besides giving me a heart attack though, a heat sink kept heat levels low enough to only take minimal damage.  You can barely make out the orbit lines in the pick, if you are reading this and you aren't me and for some reason you take interest in such things.

Of course, Beagle point is really just the halfway point, now we have to go back.  The trick will be getting back in time to turn in this lovely data so we can hold unto as much of a lead as we can in the leaderboards.  Everyone seems to have the realistic expectation that the current standings will change wildly as the season draws to a close, nobody is counting on winning.  However, there is still that chance, against the odds sure, but there is still that chance.  I want to do all I can so I'm manually plotting a neutron course back to EA.  I'll be keeping track of the jumps and distances, if my math works out I should be doing 500 jumps or so?  Maybe more, but if it is a speedy way to get back I may share it with some of the squadmates that don't think it's possible to make it back in time. That's close to ten hours of jumps, over about 8 days....

Hmmm, when I say it out load like that it doesn't seem like much of a shortcut after all.

I guess we will see.
Do you like it?
