CMND Log 035: Explorer's Anchorage

It's currently been one year and a few days time since I first started recording these logs on Inara, which makes it about a year and a half since my Pilot's Federation.... commandership? License? Whatever it's called. Distant Worlds 2 has just wrapped and the fleet is breaking apart going their own ways. I started this journey very cynical. My original intention was to participate to help build the deep space station Explorer's Anchorage and use it as a fresh start, an entire new system to call home and far away from any real law enforcement. And when the factions that control the station had no criminal element to support, well, my plan was to return after the expedition and systematically assault the security forces until such time as a criminal faction filled the void I would create in the police forces. I mean, I would do it myself but I'm more of doer not a planner. But, in the later half of the expedition I joined a squadron and met some new people, and, well they probably wouldn't appreciate me flying up and down the system shooting up the place. I might even embarrass them. So, those plans are scrapped.I think last log I was talking about plotting a detail course back home from Beagle point? That didn't happen, I was ahead of most of the squad/fleet by a few days, so they talked me into hanging back for some silly deep space antics. SRV breakdancing, ship launched fighter fireworks show, things of that nature. I took the time to explore the deep, dark planets of the rim as far as I could reach out there. It is rather chilling when you are out there in the true black-black. After a few days of pickin' and grinnin' I plotted a course back, and while I neglected to keep close details it was probably about 500 jumps, perhaps less. I used Spansh a little bit, it had a real problem with the Thargoid wall and only saved me time around the Fomorian... Rift? Is it called the Formorian Rift? Or is it the Formorian Expanse? I forget, who cares. After that I just got on the neutron level and it was smooth sailing.
I'm going to spend a little time puzzling over this Mountain Signal. I mentioned it a few logs back, I'm actually surprised at how little information is out there about it. I heard someone mention in radio chatter it ended in a deadend, but I can't find evidence of what that dead end was, and I'm too socially grouchy to ask directly. So I may look into that before heading back to that mining zone, Waypoint 4 or something I think it was.
I found a planet out there that was filled with diamond and void opal hotspots, seven of them. I mentioned it in the Deep Space Mining section of Fleetcom and they said "Who would mine all the way out there?" Well, I thought if anyone would mine in deep space, it would be people sitting in the Deep Space Mining section, but what do I know? So, I'm going to do some mining out there just to spite them all. Laugh at me, will you? I'm gonna mine the crap out of those rocks. After that, home and probably another serious look at the guardian tech, after one final glance at EA.
Oh seven.
