CMND Log 045: Border Wars
16 Mar 2020Switch Killington
On the tail end of the elections, a pair of wars have broken out in separate systems on the edges of our controlled space. Much more interesting than delivering mail to distance systems showing how good the polls are doing for my faction. I was excited to get some long term combat, firstly focusing my efforts on Mooramoora and then on the second system, but as of making this log we've achieve victory in both systems.I focused my efforts in Mooramoora. The wars started staggered, with about a day or two between them, so I wanted to focus on one until its conclusion, then reinforce the other. The conflict was heavy, but contained around the system. I did the most work winged up with a trio of other Vets, which was fun. This log is going to sound like a teenage girl's Private Logbook, but things are always more fun with friends. They all freaked out when I unloaded both my packhounds and filled their radar with clouds of missile signatures. I'm very much a lone wolf kind of Commander, silently lurk and then listen for where best to be put, but I appreciate the comraddery, especially since I tend to get a lot of heat from Spec Ops when I'm in a CZ. Nice to have other people in the zone to take that fire, and to help with mine. Even if one of them was in a Keelback, the crazy bastard.
Checking the GalMap today, it seems like I missed the war in the second border zone, my space is cleared up. That means we handled two wars simultaneously, since in the overlapping days we achieved victory in both systems. Good, but I don't think we had any opposing commanders flying against us. I'm interested in seeing what happens if and when we expand into well traveled space, with just normal Commanders doing missions. So, goods news, even though disappointing for my personal bloodlust. I suppose I could swing by an local war if I wanted. Maybe look into destabilizing a system we plan on moving into down the line. We'll see what happens.
