That Was Close!

Sometimes, low threat extraction sites do pay off. I had found a honey hole and was well on my way to a Diamondback. But I almost lost it all.
It seems the Feds are stepping up their game in the hunt for the strange "out-of-towner" with the goofy looking ship that no one seems to know anything about. I heard, from a reliable source, that some tech at their secret base activated the weapons system by mistake and, that before they could get it shut down, it melted the front 3 meters off of some Admiral's Corvette without even draining the power cell.
It's funny, I thought the darn thing wasn't in good enough shape to do that after the crash. Also, I thought to myself, it was a transport, not a fighting ship. Wow! Another memory triggered. Maybe things are starting to come back...
I digress. I was leaving the RES to redeem my latest pocket full of vouchers and had just hit supercruise when BAM! My screen lit up like a Christmas tree!
Interdicted? What? I don't even have a cargo hold! Ahh, now I see. On the scanner, closing fast from high starboard - It was Barney Fife come to haul in the fugitive and get himself a promotion. Heck, they might even let him put real bullets in his gun after this!
I did not give him the satisfaction. I dropped to standard thrust, faking a submission. Then, as soon as the FSD was charged, I punched it and left little old Barney scratching his head. I think my jump was close enough to burn the pain off the front of his cop car.
Oh well, the honey hole is burned. That's a real shame too. I guess it's time to move on...
