How Quiet Is Too Quiet?

Survey missions - most people think are the most boring tasks in the universe - something to trundle through and tolerate until you can afford that big exploration vessel that will get your name in the history books...

I actually like survey missions, mostly. I took on a rather ambitious route offered by UC to update some territory that may be considered for expansion in the future. 300 systems is what I call job security, so I took them up on it. What I didn't consider was the fact that I am not a spring chicken any more and I need to stop and rest sooner that I would admit.

So, here I am out in the middle of the Col 285 sectors. Sure there are stations within 150 ly or so that I could get to in about an hour. But all that dead-head time ain't making me no money. So - find a moon, set her down, and break out the tent. I haven't seen another soul since the last interdiction attempt about 15 systems back. Those guys can be so stupid. After all, I'm a survey ship, not a space trucker...

Well, it's warm enough here anyway. Planet 1 was the closest to where I jumped in and the sun never sets so I guess I'll be sleeping with my shades on.

I will admit, getting use to being out here all alone is kinda creepy, but then again, that's why they're paying me the big bucks.

It's gonna be interesting to see where I end up tomorrow.
