Road to Beagle Point, Day 23
Finally! after 23 days of travel I reached Beagle Point. As soon as I finished scanning the system, I headed to the Nav Beacon to learn the following information about Beagle Point:
"Beagle Point marks the end point of a galaxy-spanning expedition undertaken by Commander Kamzel in 3301. At the time, the system was known as Ceeckia ZQ-L c24-0, but Kamzel nicknamed it Beagle Point after his beloved beagle Jack, who had passed away a short time before. One year later, the system was chosen as the final destination of the first Distant Worlds expedition, resulting in an influx of over 500 pilots in April 3302. In recognition of these events, Universal Cartographics officially renamed the system Beagle Point on the 26th of May 3302."
To my immense surprise the system scan showed me the "NANACHI B62-V2M" Fleet Carrier where I was able to repair and refuel the Icarus...and of course I took the opportunity to sell all the data collected during the journey from Explorer's Anchorage to Beagle point, trip that earned me 500,377,596 Cr, the entry into the 65,000ly Club ( Travel at least 65,000ly from Sol ), the entry into the 100,000ly Club ( Travel at least 100,000ly ) and...I've made my first billion !
Now I have the answer to the question I asked myself at the start of this trip...Why Beagle Point?...Beagle Point is of early exploration historical importance as it was one of the furthest systems an explorer could reach....prior to the Jumponium (fuel boost synthesis) and Engineer era.
This last sentence made me think and sparked in me the desire to turn me further forward, bringing to the fore a discussion that I had at Explorer's Anchorage while I was selling the exploration data to Universal Cartographics contact. To cheat time while my data was being evaluated, I was inquiring about the systems furthest from Sol or Colonia and in general about the systems that can be reached at the edge of the galaxy. It was during that discussion that I learned about the Oevasy SG-Y d0 system (where I am now) and how to reach it.
Oevasy SG-Y d0 system is currently the most distant reachable star system from Sol. This system represents a double galactic record. It is at the same time the most distant system from Sol at 65,647.34 LYs and also the system furthest north of Sol at 65,630.16 LYs.
While the Icarus is being repaired I studied the route to Oevasy SG-Y d0 and found in spite of myself that I should have proceeded by manually setting some jumps, but luckily I had transcribed the information to reach the system on a pesonal note.
<<< PERSONAL NOTE of the 3306-06-02, location Explorer's Anchorage. >>>
from what I learned about Oevasy SG-Y d0, or Semotus Beacon, for a long time it was thought that travelling to the Semotus Beacon required the ability to cross one extreme jump of 99 LY. However, during the SHEPARD expedition of December 3302 it was verified that it could be achieved with "only" 82.68 LY being your longest jump. Well...reading the waypoints indicated to reach Semotus Beacon from Myeia Thaa RI-B d13-1 system I noticed only a couple of jumps that will require fuel boost synthesis ( Icarus has a jump range of 64,26 Ly ):
- Ceeckaea QK-C d14-0 to Oevasy MA-A d0: 66.32 Ly >>> FSD Injection +25% needed
- Oevasy NA-A d0 to Oevasy RG-Y d0: 82.68 Ly >>> FSD Injection +50% needed
So I set the route from Beagle Point to Ceeckaea QK-C d14-0, after fifteen jumps I manually set Oevasy MA-A d0 as destination, used fuel boost synthesis to achieve a FSD Injection +25% and jumped to Oevasy MA-A d0, once there I've set Oevasy NA-A d0 as destination an after few jumps I've had to manually set Oevasy RG-Y d0 as destinantion, used fuel boost synthesis to achieve a FSD Injection +50% and jumped to Oevasy RG-Y d0 and finally set the last jump to Oevasy SG-Y d0 aka Semotus Beacon.
No sooner said than done, I got to Oevasy SG-Y d0...now I think I will take the opportunity to save in this log some photos taken during this trip while I plan the return to the Bubble ( but first a stop to Explorer's Anchorage ).
