The next engineer I decided I needed to unlock was Professor Palin.I really need to upgrade the thrusters in the Kerr Avon to level 5, so it was an obvious next step.
But, his invite requirement was quite steep, in that I needed to travel 5000 light years from the start position.
I'd never traveled even 2000 light years before, so this would be my longed trip yet.
I knew from the shakedown flight of the Past Horizons that she was more than capable of the trip, so I spent some time in the galaxy map looking for a suitable destination 5000 light years away.
Heading outwards rather than inwards, I found a nebula the right distance away; the Jellyfish Nebula, only 98 jumps.
So I plotted a course, and set off.
Very soon I was outside the bubble; I set myself a rule of honking the system during the fuel scoop. If the system had 11 or less bodies, I'd FSS them. If it had more than 11 bodies, I'd only FSS the Water worlds, Earth likes and Ammonia worlds and then surface scan those (if they hadn't been claimed).
Soon I bagged my first unclaimed system.
Before I knew it, I was at the Jellyfish nebula, and my invite from the Prof hit my inbox.
Time to head home.
