After my last entry, I realized my vagueness about my homeworld’s name and location has probably become conspicuous. This omission is partly because I don’t think there’s a proper name for it in a language that can be easily transcribed into English. But there’s a bigger reason: I don’t want it to be the next Achenar 6d.Photo: Achenar 6d, today.
Most of you probably know Achenar 6d as Capitol, the seat of power of the Empire. Both Federation and Empire history texts will tell you it was settled by a breakaway group of humans. But there’s a detail they often gloss over:
Achenar 6d already had a sapient species on it.
At least, such was the belief of many scientists at the time. We’ll never really know; the Empire quickly obliterated all traces of the planet’s native life.
I think you can see why my race is extremely reluctant to share the coordinates of our homeworld with humans. I like you individually, and you’ve treated me well -- or at least, no worse than you treat each other* -- but as a group you’re powerfully expansionist, and not very careful of what you trample on the way.
