Drive Failures in RES
24 Dec 2015Tuurin
After working hard the last several days protecting the Federal mining fleets in LTT 15574 I am getting close to having enough credits to purchase that new Python I've had my eye on. Calling it a holidays present to myself. Multiple drive failures while in RES the last few days have greatly hampered my progress though. Seems like every hour, on the hour, a drive would malfunction causing a total system freeze that required a full reboot/repair of the entire ship to fix. And by the time that is finished the large bounty Anacondas, Pythons, and FDLs I would be working at the time would be long gone. When I would get back in action there would be nothing but a bunch of Vipers and Sidewinders floating around that are barely worth deploying hardpoints for. I have heard tell that the latest firmware update (Horizons) for most CMDRs systems is causing the problem, and a tech company by the name of Frontier Developments have been brought in and is aware of the frequent drive crashes and are investigating the problem. Something to do with the amount of interference bouncing around off of all the asteroids causing the system to overload and the drive takes the hit. I've been told that is why the failure seems to only happen while in RES. I'm sure the fix will have to wait until after holiday break, but hopefully one is coming soon....
Well no holiday break for this pilot. I'm heading back into Imperial space soon to do my part for the Federation. Hopefully being away from the RES will help keep all systems go.... Cant afford a shutdown in enemy space. Happy Holidays.
