Possible revelation about fighting the Cyclops

3304 August 28, FridayI was thinking about my attempts to take down thargoid interceptors last night and I think I just figured out something that wasn't in the guides I read. The Cyclops puts a shield up after I knock out a heart, and it's puzzled me how sometimes it goes down after a while and other times it stays up for ages. I'm almost certain that that shield is also the ammo reserve for the lightning attack!
So either I shoot the shield or the shield shoots me. I have a use for those small hardpoints on my Challenger now. I might have to make do with off-the-peg lasers for now, but I'll be trying cytoscramblers after I get access to them.

I've spent more time investigating guardian ruins this week than fighting thargoids, but I did run some more tests. I'm not so sure about this theory anymore. I took a heavy blast from the lightning attack without seeing the shields go down significantly. I will do more tests at some point, timing how long it takes the shield to go down without getting hit, and after absorbing a blast.
