Genefreak ['dʒiːn'friːk] - an artificial demi-human being with visible differences that exceed simple animal features, such as ears and tails, on a rather human body.Unlike the passive genetic modifications, such as colour of eyes or elimination of undesired genes, this quite radical change rewrites the entire genetic code by mixing up human and animal genes. As a result, there is little of a human being, save for intelligence, cognitivity and bipedal stance. Any changes to mind and memories are minimal, if the process is maintained on an adult homo sapiens specimen. However, creation of such an organism from the embryo undergo a wholly different process with two variants. In one case, the grown organism is effect of adjusted aging with shorter lifespan than average, in the other case the growth and aspects of raising up happens as in case of an unaltered human offsping.
Trivia
- The term itself, "genefreak", was unofficially coined among population of Segon after Astrobiology Research Cooperative had become the political, economical and peacekeeping entity officially present in the system.
- There is no registered numbers of genefreaks as census has yet not been seen as required, suggesting the such may not exceed population of 100.000.
- Segon, along with Astrobiology Research Cooperative, is the only (official) place of origin to all known genefreaks.
