About Time

20 Nov 2018Reese Hill
Location: Penthouse apartment, Gotham Park Dock, Alioth system
I just got out the shower and it feels good to be home for a bit after spending weeks in the void on my courier runs.  The credits I'm paid are great and I love flying so I'm not complaining, but what's the point of a penthouse apartment if you don't enjoy it sometimes.   I pour me a nice hot cup of coffee and walk to my office room and sit down at the terminal, the room, well my whole apartment is softly lit I find it relaxing, kind of like the cockpit of the Javelin VII. I hit the button to start recording.
“I guess its about time I did one of these, I didn’t quite know what to say so I just put it off.  After purchasing my Python, I was compelled to share my thoughts,” Reese sighs deeply “So here I am.  I admit I slept on the Python I heard it was a flying house brick, a rock in space all the funny little sayings so I never really bothered to consider it.  I’m ashamed to admit I forgot an important lesson my father taught me, he said every pilot has their own way of flying and a there is a ship for them they just have to try it and see if it fits.  I had a Chieftain and it was admittedly nice but I’m a courier it’s what I do, I’m one of the best at it and I’m paid lucratively for it.  The Chieftain just wasn’t enough for me, I had to pass on jobs because I wasn’t anywhere near capable of carrying the cargo loads, I was asked to and I wasn’t about to make three or four trips just to fulfill one contract.  So, since I had a nice bank account, I sold my Chieftain and bought a Python.  Best decision I ever made.  She is gorgeous, fits me perfectly and is able to move the cargo I need to move and she is just a pleasure to fly.  Besides that, she is really capable in fight, and considering the cargo I’m asked to move sometimes comes with the attention of some unscrupulous rivals I feel better equipped in a fight if that’s what it comes to.  Now I’m not claiming to be the be pilot in the galaxy but there are some enemies of the factions I fly for that have found out the hard way I’m more than competent.   I remember this guy I met at a bar while I was off exploring once.  I can’t quite remember what system, but he was a bounty hunter, name was Matt Lehman, I like the guy a lot like me actually but as I said he’s a bounty hunter and a highly successful one at that.  You don’t become that successful at bounty hunting without exceptional piloting and combat skills.  Me I just like flying I don’t need to be in the middle of the action to feel alive but I get my share from time to time when I’m moving supplies or data or whatever it is so I’m no noob flyer either. Just like I said more than competent.  Speaking of I wonder what Matt’s up to these days, maybe I should try and reach out to him meet up for drinks.  For some reason we both just stopped over at the port and both decided to grab drinks, we clicked and while I really wasn’t looking to, I ended up making a friend, I guess.  I’m not opposed to it but I just make friends that quickly as a general rule, but for whatever reason that night I did.
Reese takes a long sip from his cup.  “In any case I feel in love my Python, brand new right off the assembly line, she is great.  I had a few ships trying to find that perfect one for me and when I did, I immediately sent a message to my dad, it simply said I found her.  He would know what that meant, he was a pilot for the Alliance defense force it, he loved his ship, a Vulture it’s how I came to love flying.   After my first few runs, I brought me another apartment in the Merak system at Weyn city base, took it to an engineer I know and had some modifications made to my FSD, thrusters and shields.  I had it built different than a stock Python, I added a spoiler, wings and had it painted black.  I wonder how did I ever overlook such a wonderful ship? Regardless she is mine now and I can say I believe I found the ship for me...It was about time.”
