CMDR Yumasai's Captain's Log #20: The Yusc Expedition to Sagittarius a*

21 Oct 2020Yumasai
August 8, 3306

Commander R1sc and myself depart from Dyson City, Paresa. Our goal? To travel to the supermassive black hole at the center of the milky way; Sagitarrius a*. Our plan however, is to do this in an atypical way: Namely, not taking the Neutron Highway. Instead, we opted to take the long journey from Paresa to Sagitarrius a*, an inmense distance of roughly 26500 lightyears, one jump at a time, in a linear route.

We did this, since we wanted to explore parts of the galaxy as well. With so many people opting to take the highway, there must be systems out there never seen before by mankind. And so, we said goodbye to our friends at Dyson City, and promised our Imperator to return with rich data ripe for further research!

5 days later, we find ourselves at the first stepping stone outside human space: The Lagoon Nebula. A jewel to the eye, it being a combination of illuminated gases that appear to us in an orange and green palette due to the emissions of an O-type star at the center. It also has the reputation for being a checkpoint of the Distant Worlds expedition.

A little bit past the Lagoon Nebula, we decided to move onto the Trifid Nebula, visible thanks to it's dark elements and blue-purple tints. Once there, truly my eyes were feasting upon the coloration.

To the galactic right of the Trifid Nebula we noticed another nebula to visit. What me and R1sc were looking at, is known as he Cat's Paw Nebula. A very nice mixture of red and dark, if I say so myself.

Along our travels, we took a nebula to the north as our next checkpoint. This nebula is known as NGC 6357, a nebula like the Trifid, in that it appears a combination of dark emissions and illuminated gases giving a blue-purple appearance. A notable difference once inside was that the dark emission seem to form a central band, with illuminated gases at the "sides".

It has been 5 weeks now since we left NGC 6357. Commander R1sc and I have now reached the Norma Expanse, which marks more or less our milestone of becoming midway along the journey. We find ourselves bound towards a nebula that has red emissions and dark emissions; The Geminus Nebula, formerly known as the Bleae Aewsy Nebula.

A week since our visit to the Geminus Nebula, R1sc and I approach the last nebula on our waypoint list, the Froarks Cloud Nebula. After this... I do not know... we will go into the dark, system by system, no waypoints anymore until we reach the center of the galaxy. A long trek perhaps awaits us, but we will do so having experienced the pink beauty of the Froarks Cloud Nebula.

WE MADE IT! 12 days since our journey from the Froarks Cloud Nebula at the northern edges of the Norma Expanse, we arrived at Sagitarrius a*, thereby having conducted a journey of 26.500 lightyears from Paresa to the center of the galaxy! All at the pace of one jump at a time! Such a beauty but my god... my head is spinning merely by looking at Sagitarrius a*. Not to mention.... now we have to return and report back our findings to the Imperator!

Commander R1sc decided to come after me, but not directly. Therefore, I embarked with my portion of the data back to the bubble, closely followed by R1sc. Thanks to our long-range transmissions to Paresa, Praefecti Rainbro informed us of the Deep Space Support Array (DSSA), a collection of fleet carriers that are permanently in static location to act as deep space outposts. I took a look on the charts, and realized the closest one was the DSSA Buurian Anchorage. In order to return home, we decided to make use of the Neutron Highway, figuring that we collected the data we wanted on the journey towards the center.

The next DSSA outpost, and the last, would be the DSSA Sésame. I arrived noticing it was placed at a planetary nebula, very beautiful. The next stop would be the Eagle Sector Secure Facility, in order to both resupply myself, but also to give intelligence to the Imperium.

The Eagle Sector Secure Facility. A couple of months ago, the inmates broke free and took control of the facility. Nobody knows what they were held for, but the fact that the inmates controlled it would make it an ideal spot for me to dock at, as nobody would care that I was here, nor for the business that I was to conduct there. Let's just keep it at the matter of fact, that Rainbro was very pleased with the information I could gather.

Finally home. After over 2 months, I finally have reached Nova space, and therefore, Human space. Commander R1sc is still out there, and I wish him a swift return. Nonetheless, it feels very good to be back in the confines of the Imperium. I arrived at Tarter Dock in Wuthielo Ku and was greeted by many friends, eager to hear from me how the journey was. This surely will be one to tell the kids later on, haha!
