Gift of Giving

During the journey to the carrier's next orbital home, I couldn't resist taking a little side detour. After all, what's an adventure without a few surprises along the way? I decided to make a stop at the Natural Biological Solutions in the Ts'in Gu System, known for its collection of exotic treasures. And when it came to gifting, I knew exactly who would appreciate these unique offerings.
With a mischievous smile on my face, I hovered near the planet where the station was orbiting, patiently waiting for the evening hour to approach. Sneaking into the station with my inconspicuous Diamondback was a piece of cake since my ship was unfamiliar to them. Docking discreetly, I knew that the guards at this wild and lawless anarchy station could be easily swayed with the right amount of credits.
I had always believed that the best gifts were the ones that took people by surprise. And these colorful characters in this neck of the woods certainly had a taste for the extraordinary. The cages of exotic creatures I purchased from Natural Biological Solutions would surely make their day and create memories to last a lifetime.
Back at the carrier, everyone was probably wondering where on earth I had disappeared to. I sent a message assuring them that I would be returning before dawn in our new system's time and advised them not to wait up for me. Little did I know that my mysterious reply sent Yatziri into a frenzy. Rex and Avery must have shared the news with her, and I could only hope that she wouldn't give them too much grief in my absence. After all, what's an adventure without a bit of suspense and anticipation?
As the crates were swiftly unloaded, the dock workers were discreetly rewarded for their cooperation. But of course, there had to be a security representative lurking around, eager to find something to tax. These individuals had a knack for squeezing a few extra credits into their own pockets. Without hesitation, I acknowledged that the crates contained perishable and exotic taxable goods. I made it clear that I was more than willing to pay a fair amount. A subtle wink and nod hinted at the possibility of these items being surprise gifts, and perhaps their movement could go unnoticed for a small transportation fee.
With the guards on my side, they rallied their friends to assist in moving the crates to the main offices of the recipients. It just so happened that routine system maintenance was underway on that part of the level, resulting in a temporary power outage for the security cameras. Perfect timing for me to discreetly apply an e-breach device and gain access to the inner sanctum undetected.
Once inside, I carefully positioned the cages and opened their doors, one by one. Stepping back slowly, I released the exotic creatures into the offices. I knew the recipients had a deep appreciation for the unusual, and having their workplaces filled with these unique specimens would undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.
With the cages emptied and the surprise set, I maneuvered them back to the corridor with the help of my willing attendants. We swiftly transported the cages back to my ship. Yes, it cost a little extra for a round trip, but the expense was well worth the reputation this unexpected gesture would bring.
By the time I boarded my ship and received clearance for departure, the paid participants were too preoccupied with counting their newfound wealth to notice my vessel rising into launch position. Soon, I would embark on my next adventure in the vastness of space, eager to see what tomorrow might bring and what kind of reputation bump this memorable act would bring me.
