Internal Conflicts of an Bacchanalian Imperial

It's always interesting, indulgence.

My name is Praetor Ignis "Extremo" Montis, Praetor of Lavigny's Legion, the private fleet of the Lavigny family, in service of the Imperial Navy. I am, in every fibre of my being, both in heart and soul, an Imperial. I have stood alongside my brethren as the Emperor made her way from being an exalted Senator to her most hallowed position of her current occupation. I have nearly died countless times in various conflicts, including the Pegasi Pirate War, the Cayutorme conflicts, and the rise of Emperor's Dawn. I bask in the glory of our nation, in service and in personal life.

I drink a lot of alcohol.

It is grossly "un-Imperial". Our culture considers our bodies pure, and needlessly ingesting drugs is considered a dishonorable, destructive habit. My colleagues in the Legion would likely frown on me if they knew I completely reject this tradition, a concept that us Imperials follow with an almost religious approach. Why do I reject it? It's idiotic. It's unnecessarily restrictive. The Empire is built on personal freedom; we allow our citizens the glorious fruits of all reach of society, and allow them the choice to indulge. So why do we reject drug usage and alcohol?

Indulgence. It is interesting. The Empire makes it interesting.

Our culture is in the middle of a massive change. We have our first female Emperor. One would think it acceptable to loosen up the traditional restrictions on drug usage, wouldn't it? My drink of choice is Achenar Blue Whiskey; brewed with Eden Apple of Aerial Cider, aged in organic wooden storage. None of that synthetic crap. The Legion allows us to acquire... "colorful" indulgences like that. But then, why is it frowned upon to indulge??

Sometimes, the nuances of our culture confuse and are contradictory. I feel I am not alone in that sentiment.

Maybe I just need another drink.
Do you like it?
