The Void Calls for my Return

Under the direction of Director Eridanus Cippus of the New Carthage Cartographic Institute, I have been scouting systems within the Empire for more advanced cartographic data on local bodies, looking for any anomalies perhaps related to my previous expedition, and scouting potential expansion sites for the government of Lavigny's Legion. It's absolutely mind-numbing.
Jumping from system to system, the glorious star of Achenar shining brightly in the same place each time. Unmoving. Teasing me, and telling me I have gone nowhere in my endeavors. The billions of stars towards the galactic core smiling at my ship, beckoning for my return.
A new expedition begins soon, named "The Great Expedition." A name that has been ascribed to many an individual's expedition, but this one is a touristic one, inviting thousands of famous explorers to go places together. I want to join them, so badly. So badly!
But the Empire cries out in pain. The Federation's endless onslaught is... well, just that. The Thargoids are doing something unknown, keeping everyone in tense anxiety.
I cannot abandon our Empire. But the void calls.
