Sudden Upsurge of Criminal Activity in Carthage

Carthage, the home system of Lavigny's Legion, has had a historically low level of security in space, as the majority of security forces are stationed in Aeneas, the major settlement of New Carthage. Other assets within the system are considered low-priority for Legion security, such as the commercial hub formerly owned by Ankou Blue Federal Holdings, Radwar Enterprises.

However, this weekend, there has been a sudden major increase in piracy and other petty crimes in the Carthage system's spaceways. Centurion Tesla Washington, who leads the OCOR's Interstellar Transit cohort, had a press conference this morning on Aeneas. "The OCOR has a running suspicion based on analysis of this loosely organized cadre of criminals that this may be related to the Governor's announcement regarding collaborations with Senator Aisling Duval's security forces last week," the Centurion announced. "We have captured a pirate, and are conducting interrogations." When pressed further, she refused to comment on the interrogation. "Rest assured, this will not detract from our defensive war against the Extra Corporation, which takes major precedence in deployment of Legion naval resources."

Pilots, both Legion and otherwise, are advised to remain vigilant when traveling in Carthage over the next few days. A centuria of LegionSec ships has been redeployed to quell this attack, and business is expected to return to normal by the advent of next week.
