Flash Back Series Esp. 01--Chp. 01 (based on true military events)

Getting woken up at 0345am to the sound of a beating trash can, with every bang hollowing right in your ear.  Only to realize its in the middle of a sound carrying room. Oh.... mornings like these i don't miss. By the time your tired feet carry you into formation(0415am) your already having dreams of that final retreat sound. The thought of that 1st sip beer is shortly lived, due to the call too "Attention!!!..."  And what follows is what you already expected was coming.  Absolutely no reason to be working up in such a manor at that time.  Just too be told the transport E.T.A. isn't for another few hours(0645am).  And, well,..... you know if no other delays arise. which we all know in the military logistics always run smooth.  shaking my head.   The fact the server weather for the area about to roll in and rain shit on our  parade for 85% of our day doesn't darken my spirits.

I was always taught, looking on the bright side of things even if it's negative, is a good life method to live by.  In this case the fact that it's the end of the week formation and our 2 day pass which so unceremoniously revoked from us the weekend before. Oh yea cant wait!!!  But, yea someone didn't feel like the needed too clean up their mess after dropping the kids off  at the pool went wrong.  That was one of those dumb shits, that just didn't need too be left there.  Not forgetting the forecast, rain and stormy weather rolling in. Today's open canopy low altitudes flights at extreme speeds will be heart pounding.  Towards the end of the training cycle everything intensifies. They yell at you more for no reason, it gets too the point even if your right your wrong, even though you know your personal weapon is spot-less clean, there is always a spec of some bull shit in the chamber,.... Always shaking my head and trying just to laugh at that kind of BS.  In conjunction with the open canopy flights, the instructors also plugged in some survival Training at the end of the day's session.

In most cases this meant that after our flight training we would be dropped off in some random location and be on our own to make our way back before chow time. If you don't make it back in time for chow, part 2 of the (dinner) survival training kicks in. those treks back were extra tough, and wasn't like i could even call home and cry too mother like other recruits did.  I would had to sit there and suck it up, see my mother was the vice president of the Universal mountain Club (U.M.C.).  They would go on week long Hikes through beautiful mountain ranges with amazing breathe taking Views with at least an 60bls ruck sack pack with all their gear.  So how could i ever have called home, she would have
told me straight man up son!!!.

For the few people that are able to lift them selves up and drive thru the hardships, riggers of all the different personal self tests, it is a feeling of unwavering accomplishment as an End result.  Successful completion of these training Scenarios. helps a combat pilot have more confidence to handle all the variables that might and could be thrown at them while engaged on a mission. Like a legendary boxer said once.
"you might have a plan going into the ring, but once hit in the jam, that plan goes out the window"
