Testing Guardian Tech

Thargoid menace seems to be getting closer to home. Now there seems to be a new interceptor type Hydra that is the strongest one yet. I have barely managed to kill Cyclops so the current situation makes me somewhat uncomfortable. What if they target Hajangai. Grovichun should at least be safe for a while.  Anyway I decided that it is time get into Guardian technology. The idea of bolting unknown tech to my ship does make me nervous. But I guess I don't have a choice anymore.

I followed Ram Tah's new leads and found Guardian Beacon in IC 2391 Sector. The installation was huge autonomous station orbiting a planet. I had heard that Guardian tech usually needs to be powered with energy weapons so I managed to get myself some ancient artefacts after powering some pylons. According to Ram Tah these might be useful at surface sites. So I headed for a nearby system which had Guardian Structures. After doing some scouting and blasting those drones I managed to unlock a Vessel blueprint. So I headed back home to see if tech brokers could build me one of those hybrid fighters that everyone has been talking about.

Back home the broker made me an offer of the Plasma cannon fighter. That seemed like the best variant for my taste. I still needed some weapons for the mothership so I took my new ASPX called Otava to some other Guardian sites. I unlocked some blueprints for Guardian FSD booster and Gauss Cannon. Back home I fitted Ultima Thule with a couple of Cannons and the booster. Those cannons should work well with AX multicannon turrets and help me fight interceptors better.

At Pleiades it was time to face a Cyclops variant once again. Gauss cannon was shredding its hull and hearts. Unfortunately we  found out that the Trident fighter was not as useful as expected as it got destroyed fairly easily. At least it takes more experience from my fighter pilot Daryl Maier before he can dodge those swarms and volleys from the big bug itself. But the Gauss cannons gave us victory with relative ease. Not only did we not lose our canopy but the hull was left with 86% integrity after the fight. This makes me more optimistic about the whole conflict between mankind and the aliens. Maybe we have some change after all.
