Journey to Colonia - Day 13 - Polo Harbour

The sixty-odd jumps went buy in a blur of work as I hit a stretch of undiscovered systems that lasted most of my run to Boewnst KS-S c20-959 from Gandharvi. I became a scanning machine, logging a few hundred new bodies into the databanks in a few hours as I crept closer to Colonia. Saw some interesting sights along the way, as well as a familiar Commander Tag:

                                                                                                                                                            You magnificent bastard...

A trio of stars in close orbit...anyone have marshmallows?

You may have noticed a change in my ship's livery. I got a little drunk on Caravanserai at a great spot there called Bad Dharma frequented by travelling spacers like myself. After four of the place's signature cocktails, called Flaming Nirvanas, I found myself perusing the station's options for ship paintjobs and ended up with what you see below. When I woke up the next morning with my head feeling the size of a watermelon and my tongue the texture of shag carpet, the brilliant illumination shining forth from my girl's hull gave me an instantaneous headache that persisted throughout the day.

After a few hours, my throbbing skull aside, the paintjob had grown on me:

                                                                                                                                                                             Ow, my retinas!

So, having docked planetside at Polo Harbour, I studiously avoided the lounges and bars and instead took in a holo and did some re-provisioning after turning in a nice haul of exploration data. At the rate I've gone, I should be in Colonia inside of three days. I plan to spend some time there doing missions and building my reputation before swinging out to Sag A and then probably back to the Bubble to rejoin civilization and turn in a fortune in cartographic data. After reading about the generation-ship Golconda on Galnet, I realized that I could be helping people back there with my ship instead of traipsing across the Galaxy on a pleasure cruise.

And then I realize that my presence or absence in Upaniklis might have done some good, but there are hundreds of decent Commanders out there ready to lend their aid to the poor folks on that hulk, drifting through space for a thousand years while the Galaxy that had forgotten them moved on into the future. What I am doing now, peeling back the curtain of the unknown, revealing the secret ways and unseen places of the Galaxy, has an important place as well. So I will do my best once I return to the Bubble to be one of the good guys, but for now I am too far away to be of any help, and so I will point my nose towards Kashyapa, the penultimate station on the road to Colonia and my next stop. Until then, fly safe, Commanders, and spare a thought for the folks on the Golconda.
