Downtime

It started out well enough. Doing bounties for Stardreamer isn't really any different than doing bounties for any other large corporation. Their hitlist is a who's who of local crimelords, pirate bosses, and smugglers across this part of the frontier. Bringing these guys in was business as usual until the networks shut down. We still don't really know what happened. Bounty boards, Mission Servers, and News Nets all throughout this part of the Frontier, and maybe further out for all I know, started acting up. Suspicions surfaced regarding some kind of coordinated criminal activity - possibly a service denial attack specifically designed to knock out these systems - likely to prevent Bounty Hunters like me from interfering in some kind of major criminal op. Well, it worked. Half my bounties just disappeared out of my computer. I couldn't get ahold of anyone at Stardreamer to actually confirm receipt, and a bunch of the crooks I bagged got to go free. The dead ones, well, they're still dead anyway. The worst part though, some bit of malicious code got uploaded into the broken network, distributed on failed connection attempts to random users. Seems like most of us weren't affected, but I was one of the unlucky few. So, long story short - my ship's been grounded for the last 5 days while I've been trying to clear the junk code from my systems and restore my flight permits. Fun stuff. And of course, the few people I have been able to contact at Stardreamer aren't too happy with my failure to deliver on the majority of these contracts. Of course, they understand my excuse - many of them are being affected as well. But it still isn't good for business and I'm going to have some work to do once I get back into space - just to repair the rep damage. What a setback.
