A Far Heaven

I've had too much on my mind lately, and I've not heard from LYR again, aside from a terse notification that my services were no longer required by Sirius Gov. And frankly I'm glad. This isn't the sort of job I do for the money and I'm not sure the rewards were quite worth all the trouble. At the end of the day, I'm just a rich adventurer with a gun collection that any general would envy. I don't need to risk my life for a paycheck, but I tend to do it anyway when it's fun. I'm sure a psychiatrist would love to get their hands on me. Anyway, if I were sane I'd get out of this business and spend all this money on a nice early retirement, but I'm not sure I'll ever get to that point. Where the hell am I going with this? I'm not sure, really. Just trying to figure myself out. I sound like a freaking teenager now. Guess that figures.Anyway, I decided to get away from everything for a while. Give myself time to think. So I grabbed the Stardreamer and headed off out of the bubble. There's a place, more than 5000 light years away from the bubble. Years ago I found my first Earthlike in a system out there. I made a note of it and have come back every so often. It's a nice little planet that kinda reminds me of Earth. At least, it does if you don't look too close. Some day, when I do retire, maybe I'll fund a nice little colony and buy the planet. It's quite pleasant, and the rest of the system is fairly interesting too. I've got my name all over it in the Pilot's Federation database and I like to think of it as my system. Of course, I know it doesn't really work that way. But with enough money you can buy anything in this greedy universe and I intend to make sure that I legally own as much of this place as I can, when that fateful day finally comes. Assuming of course I don't die first.
