War in Haiden 2: The Federation Strikes Back

While I was busy helping the Dogs of Lore shore up their defenses and set up some information security systems, the Haiden Organization was busy mobilizing their counter attack. I had intended to let the other Canonn operatives handle it but today I got word from the front lines that things were going badly for my biscuit loving friends. Fortunately, I had finished up the most difficult part of the Pathamon job and was ready to turn it over to the Dogs anyway. Final orientation had to be rushed a bit but I think they'll be able to figure out the rest on their own, and I'll keep an eye on them through the net anyway. So with that, I headed back to Haiden to bail out my buds and see if the Anti-Canonn benefactors show up again. I don't really consider myself a soldier, that would require some kind of discipline and commitment. And I'm not great at following orders. I'm a free spirit, and I've never been comfortable unless I'm the master of my own destiny. But I guess I find myself on a lot of battlefields. It's good money, no denying that, but it's also a way to make a real difference - that is IF you know what you're doing.
The average grunt running across a field of fire to die for his country ain't gonna change anything. I hate to say it, but it's true. If you want to win, and you want to make a real difference, you have to use your head. Dying is just stupid. Don't do that. Think first. Kill a lot of enemies and your faction/country/whatever will love it. But really, the important thing is to just survive, and learn. You don't learn anything if you're dead. Learn how to fight, learn why you're fighting, and learn what will happen after the fight is over. Survive and understand the reasons behind the fight, the history, and the truth that gets buried under the politics. You're not the good guy, no matter which side you're fighting on. Every nation has it's sinners, and they're usually the ones in charge. Especially when there's a war on. Wars are about powerful people throwing other people's lives away for their own agenda. Don't die for some asshole's master plan. Survive, learn, and with experience and practice you'll know where to fight, where to retreat, and how to do both in a way that makes things turn out the way you want - or close enough anyway. But you don't get to that point if you die.
And maybe, just maybe, you'll learn that the best outcomes are those that happen without a fight. Too bad we don't always get a choice.
