The Biography of Cmdr Veyder

12 Aug 2015Veyder
The man who would become Veyder is an anomaly. There are no tales of tragic loss or traumatic events that shaped his personality. ****** ****** (Name Redacted to protect his family) was born on Earth in the Sol system to two loving parents and grew up the youngest of three boys. Upon graduating high school ****** elected to put his studies on hold and travel eventually being recruited into the Federal Marine Corps.

In the Marine Corps, ***** honed his leadership and combat skills, mastering long/close range combat, zero-g combat, and eventually becoming a martial arts instructor.  In the military, ****** found what his life was missing... focus and discipline. After completing his military term, "Veyder" was recruited as a security contractor and placed in a special division for tracking down criminals. It was later revealed that Veyder was chosen because he had unique results on his psychological evaluation; Veyder was deemed to exhibit psychopathic tendencies.

It has long been said that most psychopaths never serve a day in jail. Instead, they drift into fields like law, politics, business, law enforcement and the military where their talents can be put to good use. They often rise high in these fields. They are ruthless, cold, calculating, manipulative, charming, focused, unempathetic, remorseless and fearless. Veyder did not suffer the same social awkwardness most other psychopaths experienced, instead, he learned to adapt to those around him.

These skills enabled Veyder to easily predict and track the actions of criminals. Quickly rising through the ranks by bringing hundreds of criminals to justice, mainly by force. Veyder feels compelled to kill an unfortunate by-product of his condition, so he turns his attention to those who deserve to die in order to satisfy this need and not conflict with of the foundation of morality and justice instilled in him by his parents.

While on what seemed to be a routine recon mission to track the notorious Pirate Lord Captain John Darklight and the activities of his gang, Veyder was ambushed by the Pirate Lord and his henchmen. The battle was the most intense battle experienced by Veyder. Four battle hardened pirates versus a single python. With 20% hull integrity left, thrusters going critical, a breached canopy and reactor at 45% Veyder had barely pulled out of this alive let alone a victory.

After disabling the weapons and thrusters on the pirate ships, Veyder knew that the techs would think that the flight recorder was damaged due to some sort of malfunction and given his standing no questions would be asked, so he manually disengaged the flight recorder, and started what would become his "modus operandi"; without emotion he read the charges levied against each of the pirates along with the kill order issued by the Federal Government. Veyder then moved his ship into a position facing the canopy of the opposing ship having his ships A.I. transfer weapons and targeting to him; one by one slowly and methodically, Veyder fired Class 3 Beam Lasers directly into the cockpits of each pirate documenting it on video for personal review.

Upon returning to station Veyder sought to consult with his leaders about increasing the number of available pilots, especially after his last experience. The request to bolster the number of pilots fell on deaf ears.  Veyder resigned his position, no longer would he be sent solo on dangerous missions for crap pay or be assigned targets from a limited pool; he would hand pick them himself. While en-route home, the GalNet news feed flickered alive with a distorted video feed with the cryptic message Ghost Squadron "Ex Umbra" and video footage of criminals being executed with a warning to all potential criminals in inhabited space.

Veyder smiled and remarked to himself "Letting the criminals scream for their lives... now that is a nice touch." Eventually, Veyder found CMDR Belstarion the Leader of Ghost Squadron and requested to join. Immediately Veyder fit in, first concentrating on feeding his need to kill, Veyder built up an impressive fleet, each ship from combat to trade to exploration reflected Veyder's impulses (Killing) and were heavily armed.

Rapidly promoted through the ranks Veyder was eventually granted command of the group renamed Ghost Legion which he continues to use to add to his body count.
