Log #01: Slave smuggling - a new career

Coming to Empire space was one of the better decisions of my life. Clearly I have my mother's blood, and the lore she passed on to me in the form of nighttime stories, to thank for that. I'll never understand what she saw in my ever absent socialist Federation xenoecologist nut of a father. But that is another story for another time.
While still in the Federation I was contacted by an Imperial Inquisition recruiter. I have never heard of them before, but the image of serving the Empire struck a chord with me in a way no endeavor I undertook in my life ever had.
It took me some time to adapt and find my bearings after the grueling trip from Federation space to Brestla. I undertook some missions for the Imperial Inquisition, and some for Emperor Arissa Lavigny-Duval to whom I had pledged fealty upon arrival, but quickly realized that I would need a better ship in order to be useful.
Repairs on my old Sidewinder would have cost more than the ship itself. Luckily a buyer was on hand to take that heap of junk off my hands. With some saved up money and what came from the sale, I bought myself a Viper Mark III form a used ship salesman. I could swear the meter had been tampered with, but what the hell, I couldn't afford a better ship anyway.
After hunting wanted criminals for some time, one of the other Inquisitors suggested a way to serve the Empire that would be much more profitable for myself, and undermine our enemies at the same time. Namely slave smuggling.
Posing as an independent smuggler in a Type-6, I started to ship slaves into Independent and Federation territory for some crime syndicate or other.
After several successful long hauls I now have enough cash on hand to buy a proper smuggling ship - an Asp Explorer.
