Scouting mission day 6

21 Jun 2020Excess Fire
Getting up is never easy these days, but Destiny doesn't like flying herself and the cats not much use for anything. everyone's out fueling the carrier im hearing on the wireless so i get a feeling they will be heading this way shortly.
Coffees up, no it ain't, wait, got a little bit left, no whiskey left so its just coffee... mmm, so that's what coffee tastes like on its own, sometimes i forget. Ok, daily maintenance under way, AMFU's up and running, not to much suffering occurred in the last 24, this wont take long at all. First 40 jumps locked in, cats on the dash, and away we go. 10 jumps out, an icy shows up but is of no use, past 3 ww's on the way out to it though. 20 jumps, nothing at all, 24, gives me a system with 4 icy's, time to earn my keep. Lets see what they hold for us.
yep.... nothing, and we're jumping...... outa here. 30, then 40... still nothing. now plotting a 72 jump leg parallel back past the start point, and we're jumping.... that way. 3 in, an icy to investigate, nope, nothing. 19 jumps later, a couple of icy's are showing up on fss, yep, had a hotspot but not worth mentioning, flew past a ww tho, didn't bother it, tanks full. So here we go again. 32 jumps in this leg, found a promising system, 4 icy's, and an ammonia, going for a nosey, ooooh, just past a ww as well, fingers still crossed. hope this 150 thousand light second supercruise is worth it... it wasn't. Next. 37 jumps gone for naught so far, is it just a matter of..... Time??? The rest of this leg went without much more than a couple of ww's, ammonias. hotspots not worth mentioning and a couple of photo ops, but I'm no photographer either aye...

Mon Capitaan has arrived in the carrier and settled into orbit under a fuel supply ring, nice and close, time to go in for a restock, refresh, repair that crack and grab a new roll of duct tape, cats still not talking to me, cant figure why... still. And then, restart. next destination coordinates given, lets see if i cant do better this time huh. there's cat fur everywhere, anyone got a vac on board?

And now that we are fat and fully fed. its time to resume the hunt. 5800 lyr till net target as advised stuck to my locker. No whisky in sight, hmmmm.... Bar stop first. sorry Capitaan... just stop lockin the door and ya wont need to be fixin it all the frakin time,.... sound like a plan?. NOW we can leave. a few jumps lead me to 3 hotspots spread over 2 icy rings, better mark em just in case... done, next stop, a neutron, a wiggly one, ignoring it, The next few, a bunch of nothings, then codex starts telling me stories, so clearly i have crossed into a new region. So this is the norma expanse, i thought i had been here before, i had, 2 years ago, but just briefly, maybe i didn't scan back then, i dunno, don't care either. seriously, who names an expanse Norma, sound like an aunty to me. ugh!!. more codex buzzes, more un-useable rings, more rocks, more ice, where's that bourbon? oh frak, gone,.... um,... it's unusually quiet, today, where's the cat?  o crap, i bet he's still on the carrier, poor buggers, I should probably warn the crew, naaah!!.

A couple of multi hotspot systems to report but still not what we are after, i am halfway to the next target, getting tired, getting bored, getting forgetful, must fuel scoop, must fuel scoop, yep, cut it fine here, luckily there's plenty of very close systems in this area... its embarrassing needing rescue, wont do that twice, if i could just remember.... another busy system here, many possible's, none working out, the hunt goes on.

nothing further till the target system, got a hm tf but that's about it. setting ship up for grid search now and then hitting the bunk. good night cruel world, its over....till tomorrow
Do you like it?
