I felt that sting before

What is of interest to me now is twofold: to understand what is out there, in the void – and to understand why we were not ready for some of it. The thing is: we felt the sting of the Thargoids before. To tell the truth, I do not know how Save and Rescue ever got me not only out of the wreckage of my trusted Cobra MK I, but actually out of that spot in the void after their first intercept. We were not prepared for anything like it. Not at the first encounter. But some of us got better. Good enough to survive, good enough for a kill.
But today… It looks like they were subtler. More cautious. More prepared. And our systems failed. The weapons failed. Only then came the discoveries. Words got around about Guardian Tech, about engineers like Ram Tah, who were able to make it work for us. He trusts me enough to work with me. I, on the other hand, do not trust unknown technology that easily. Need to see it with my own eyes.
But others traveled this road before. Among them, some chaps who seem serious about this science. And about tinfoil hats. Given that they have biscuits, I dropped them a line, asked permission to look at their files, offered to share myself – which is the price of entry. Fair enough. Time to fly with Canonn.
