Illegal Life

Six people wound up in a shipwreck thousands of light years from home. I don’t who they are. I don’t know their stories. The windows in all six casket-like escape pods are darkened by the intense radiation that they have been subjected to. Their occupants are sleeping, but their minds are not dreaming, and their hearts not beating. They are all but dead. After all we have accomplished, we could not get rid of war, not yet. Lasting peace hasn’t happened. We expanded throughout the galaxy, and with that expansion conflict became a constant struggle. We have changed. These escape pods are all flagged as stolen. Life is cheap.
I want these six hearts to beat again. I will carry them safely through space in my journey. I cannot bring them back to life myself, but must find someone with the power to infuse life, someplace where human life still has value. Carrying these passengers poses a risk to me and my crew. They will not be abandoned to oblivion.
