Pristine System Log - Sharru Sector LS-T B3-1 - Detail Survey Completed

16 Jan 2019Veladarius
Found on the way back from LTT 3928 and is a neighboring system. While there is a gas giant there are no rings there or around any other planet. There are no moons but a number of planets that can be landed on. Initial surveys show that most planets have a number of rarer materials but how much there is remains to be seen.

Survey of planet #1 of 6 landable
Surface has deep craters and canyons, many 1km - 2km deep with steep sides and rough bottoms. Terrain in general is very rough and minerals scattered. While I usually had a signal of some sort on the scanner the terrain was difficult to navigate and the gravity low so the SRV frequently could not get traction or slid downhill.

Survey of Planet #2 of 6 landable
Surface is a rusty red color with polar caps. The surface has a number of craters and at least one mountain (fairly high) On approach the terrain looks fairly smooth, as you get closer to the surface it starts looking very rough but once at ground level it was not nearly as rough as it seemed, those features were just somewhat large. I picked a good sized crater (as I have better luck in them) and landed. My instincts were spot on, as soon as departed in the SRV I had contacts in pretty much every direction including indications of cargo. Found one cache of cargo, had a security zone around it so I had to contend with a few skimmers but the nice thing about being in a Pristine system is it is Lawless so no one shows up and you can shoot down anyone you want with no penalty. Only thing is that you will need a Kill Warrant scanner if you want any credits for taking down someone wanted.
One other good thing about this moon is that there is no debris (rocks and such) around so spotting deposits is very easy as they are the only things around.
Overall, this is a fairly rich location both in minerals and cargo. I will be adding this to my list of places to go.

Survey of Planet #3 of 6 landable
Planets 2 and 3 are in a tight binary orbit and are just under 1 ls apart. It has a similar color though not as dark and it has large gorges running long distances exposing the icy layer beneath the dirt. These gorges are very deep, have near vertical walls and have very rough terrain at the bottom of them. I certainly won't be trying to go down there other than maybe to fly through them. This moon also has no debris so mineral deposits and other things will be easy to see with the night vision as it makes it visible at distances much further than the scanner can pinpoint (scanner can point you in the right direction though). Found another large crater with a mound in the middle and will start here.

Update 17 Jan 05
It turns out that this planet has far fewer mineral deposits than Planet #2 and I did not see any outcrops just the smaller deposits.
I did check out the fissures and as expected the terrain was rather rough but would be passable as the terrain is made up of large formations but have rather steep sides. I did a low level pass through a good length of one and did not see or pick up any signs of any minerals or anything else. There have been several ships that have come through or were on the ground though so there is a bit of traffic here. Overall this planet would not make my list for places to gather minerals.

Survey of Planet #4 of 6 landable
This planet is much like the others in that it has a number of craters and canyons but they are much more weathered and smoother. As with the others there isn't any debris around so finding deposits and other things should be easy to do visually as they will be the only things around Turns out there is quite a bit of rock scattered about, many large enough to damage the SRV if hit at a decent speed, not sure how I missed this before as I had been flying at an altitude of under 20m while scouting the crater. Of all the landable planets in the system this one is the largest with a radius of nearly 2800 km and a gravity of 0.2g (the others range from 0.11g to 0.15g). Again I have chosen a crater to do my check, it is rather large with a good sized mound in the center that is rather rough near the top. Surface color is a grayish sand color and the bottoms of the deeper canyons are a dark brown (these look to be newer as they are less weathered than some of the others).

Update 18 Jan 05
Found a number of protection zones with skimmers, last one had a ship nearby that attacked my SRV and destroyed it. Beyond that initially I did not find much as far as mineral content went but after driving around a bit I did find a good amount of minerals, overall somewhat above average.

Off to sell what cargo I did get and buy a new SRV.

Update 19 Jan 05
Survey of Planet #5 of 6 landable
Planets #5 and #6 are a binary pair but have a larger orbit around each other than the other set does. Surface color is a reddish tan with some areas having a slight purple tinge to it. There is debris scattered about many of which are big enough to make you take notice even at lower speeds so high speeds here are not recommended unless you want to beat the undercarriage of the SRV to death. I found a very large crater, big enough that it had several other large craters in it. I chose to land in a crater near the edge that had a large mound taking up most of the crater itself and has another large crater right next to it. Scanner on the SRV is showing a good amount of minerals in all directions so this may be a good place to find them. Getting a few indications of man made objects as well, will have to be more careful with the security zones and bring the ship down and nearby in case the owners are parked nearby.
Covered a good distance, found a number of the smaller deposits but no outcrops anywhere. Did find several cargo caches with skimmers but no guarding ships. Some of the mineral deposits were fairly close to each other but overall the travel distance between them was a good distance away. Lack of outcrops would keep this off my list of places to go for minerals.

Survey of Planet #6 of 6 landable
Last of the landable planets in the system. Surface is a light tan color, what craters and few canyons are here are very well worn. The surface is not quite as flat as its sister planet but it isn't very rough, just more like some rolling hills instead of flat ground.
What seemed to be a lot of signals for minerals quickly dried up as it seems that I landed in the center of a wide field of small mineral deposits but as I collected them the number of signals became less and less. I found one cache of cargo with several skimmers, some valuable stuff (gold and platinum). Overall this planet (at least this location) has little minerals and again no outcrops.

Summary:
Overall only landable planet #2 (the 2nd planet out from the star) had a decent amount of minerals and such but less than places like Ross 919's moons.
