Stress Testing and Calibrations

16 Nov 2019Junagu
I've spent most of the last week looking at the GalMap on the bridge of Arkholme Verse whilst docked at Budrys Installation with a full hold of Rare's destined for Colonia over the next six weeks. I'm fairly familiar with the route and have passed through a lot of the outposts and stations out that way. But I've never travelled so far with a hold full of valuable cargo.

Even a few test jumps in the systems around here attracted attention from pirates wanting to have a go. The ship dealt with them without really breaking a sweat, but I realise that these are just the inexperienced small fry. So, at least I've gotten a feel for how it'll behave under attack but there's also the stresses of many atmospheric landings. I've already smashed the ship a couple of times. So how the shields deal with rock has been revealed. Not great, but should survive all but a deliberate dive into a planet surface. The ship is no slouch, so boosting can be dangerous and the full hold really makes it drift a bit more than I'm used to.

There's also the stresses of riding a lot of neutron cones on the way. I'm used to doing that in a Python for long distances but there's almost always the odd accident. I think it's going to be the many necessary planetary landings that are going to be the real danger on this expedition, though.

I'm going to try and follow both the CCC4 route and also take in some of the Waypoints of the Lost Souls 2 Expedition, since I'm going to follow that on from Colonia. Both convoys pass through Skaudai CH-B d14-34 and the station there. It being one of the few stations with a shipyard on the Colonia Highway, that makes it an essential stop. I'll need to initiate the transfer of my Krait Mk2 for LS2 from there.
