Distant Worlds Day 9 - an unexpected encounter

Today I went to explore the Omega Sector KC-V C2-44 system as there had been reports of there being minerals there that are required to boost the jump range that will enable us to reach beagles point.Whilst exploring the planet B1 I came across 2 crashed nav beacons and a abandoned cargo container which I scanned and collected without much thought.
after a bit more exploring and finding the materials I came for, I noticed another strange signal, thinking that it is likely no more than another crashed nav beacon I head towards it but when I approach it becomes clear that this is no crashed nav beacon, it was a crashed SHIP with 2 occupied escape pods!!!!.
I quickly collected them up and recalled my ship to drop them off, once they were safely on board I quickly plugged their pods into the ships power to ensure their life support keeps running.
I then go back out to the crashed ship to see if there is any more survivors but I do not find any, however I do find a cargo container of narcotics, I wonder if this was the cause of the crash?
I collect it and do a quick sweep of the area to see if I can find anything else to help determine what happened her but cannot find any. its likely anything that was on the planet was long buried like the rest of the crashed ship.
I have now returned to my ship but the questions remain, what do I do with these 2 escape pods?
Do I go back home? do I carry on? do I open them or leave them sealed?
I will have to think on this........

After weighing up the options I've decided to carry on with the expedition, I'm sure a few more weeks in those escape pods wont matter.
I have now made my way to the Eagle Nebula, I have to say it defiantly deservers its name, from the strange dark and light purple patterns on approach and the shape of the tightly pack star cluster from the base camp within in the nebula itself both looks like an eagle in flight.
The main fleet is supposed to leave from the previous waypoint tomorrow evening so I may stay here for a few days to meet up with them all.
The next way point is 3300 lY away and is the last one in stage 1, after that we will be crossing the Norma expanse on the way to the core
