Distant Worlds Day 16 - Luck save me from my incompetence

31 Jan 2016Silverorrange
Today I spent the morning flying 500 lys above waypoint 5 to see if I can find any interesting systems, unfortunately nothing to write home about but interesting to see how the galaxy outside my window seemed to stretch and bend the higher up I went, the afternoon was mostly spend heading back in economy settings to try and find something more interesting but as it got closer to 18:00 i quickly changes back to fastest in order to get to the waypoint in time.

Luckily I made it 5 minutes before the lift off, however I headed in to the base camp a little too hot and so having the engine at full power upwards I crash landed in the middle of the base camp, luckily it saved me from taking hull damage but it did scare the hell out of the poor CMDR in the anaconda that I narrowly missed hitting, again more by luck than skill.

As the count down got closer I prepared my waypoint marker for the nearest 1000Ly that I could, when I came out of the galaxy map I saw 3 Anacondas and 1 ASP sitting on their tails ready to launch like the rocketships of old earth.

It was such a sight I had to record it:

Once the main group had disappeared from my scanners I charged up my FSD and started making my way to the waypoint I had set myself for the night, on the way to the waypoint I was busy looking at the system map to find my next planet to scan, selected it and was immediately greeted by a huge gas planet zooming into view before I was dropped out of super cruise, made me realise how that poor CMDR must have felt earlier but again I managed to avoid taking any hull damage, Jimmy must have been making some changed that strengthened the hull or im just VERY lucky.

I have got to pay more attention or this could become a very short expedition for me......
