Distant Worlds Day 20 - Reaching waypoint 6 and further exploration

04 Feb 2016Silverorrange
Today I made the last few 700 lYs to waypoint 6, unfortunately I had been delayed in take off as Jimmy had been messing with the drives again, to be fair to him he fixed the random system map bug again

However when i took off I heard over long range communications that a tower of ships was being built at the base camp at waypoint 6, apparently they were making a tower by having a line of ships one behind the other all pointing at the ground, was great to watch on the side panel as I furiously tried to make it to them in time to see it myself, unfortunately by the time I got there people had started moving on to explore the area, i decided to wing up with CMDRs Jonathan Thal, Astromiko and Isokix as they were planning to head out to see a nearby neutron star, I had heard a lot over long range communications about how dangerous they are and I can now see why.

When we all made it to the neutron star Jonathan Thal and Isokix left for the night where as myself and AstroMiko decided to carry on and explore a few more systems nearby most of the systems i came across were pretty boring (as usual with my luck) but i did have an interesting instance where i was flying behind a blue gas giant  and as i was looking at it the sun passed behind it and the gas giants atmosphere lit up a wonderful green, was like something from on old sci-fi movie poster.

As we pressed on I came across a system which had 2 neutron stars in it, lucky i was paying attention as did not notice it on the galaxy map so managed to swerve and slow down before i crashed into it, unfortunately it had already been discovered but that wouldn't stop me from scanning both, the 2nd neutron star was over 300000 Ls away from the first so it took considerable amount of time to reach and had my spedo at over 400c, not even during the hutton orbital run had i seen it go that high before.

Somewhat unsurprisingly with my luck i ended up crashing into the 2nd star, thankfully not hard but still enough to take another 1% of my hull, i know that there will be points in this journey where we will be passing through an area with a lot of these types of stars so will defiantly need to keep an eye out for them.

Jimmy is getting upset with my reckless flying and damaging what he is calling "his ship", cheeky so and so, he is just lucky he is useful, anyway to keep him happy I decide to land for the night so that he can check the ship over.

I bid farewell to Astromiko and wish her the best of luck, hopefully i will meet up with them again soon
