The Journey Back...

Time passed...Jump after Jump after Jump...
22k ... 17k ... 13k ...9k...
Day after Day after Day...
And then realization hit - I was only a couple of thousand LY from 'Jack-Ass' Station! But more worryingly the community goal was approaching Tier 7 fast. If I didn't pick up the pace I would wouldn't make it in time.
So on Friday the 5th of August I came back from work, grabbed some food, and sat down and hammered those last few thousands LY in a 7h mega session - and finally at 01:25am (0:25am game time) Saturday morning I eased my faithful Type-7 in the station!
Ahh the relief that it was finally over!
Taking the type-7 with it limited jump range (I was averaging 18ly jumps) combined with me cheapskating and getting a crappy fuel scoop meant that progress was tediously slow. But this paid off in the end as I dropped off 124 tons of cargo - which pushed me straight into the top 10% and I got a nice 15-20mil credits. I should of had 128 tons - but lost 4 due to cargo hatch malfunctions due to getting too close to stars, mainly neutron stars, and mainly because I had alt tabbed mid jump and my HOTAS lost 'games focus'.
I waited for the goal to complete, grabbed my reward, started on the mining quest and then realized my Type-7 was too big to dock on an outpost. And with another reward waiting for me back in the bubble from another community goal that I could lose if I waited too long I decided to start the long trek back. Extra cargo racks were switched for fuel tanks, the crappy fuel scoop was upgraded to a less crappier version, and rare goods were brought from the market.
My type-7 can jump further, do more jumps before refueling, and (relatively) re-fuel faster, and with less of a time constraint I'm free to explore a bit more...
...although No Mans Sky is days away...
...and I still have 19k ly to go...
