Entry 16: First Pirate Kill, and Preparing for Colonia

Current System: EurybiaAfter the last pirate attempted to mug me, I’d upgraded the Mobula for better cargo hauling and invested in basic armaments to deter future criminals. The twin pea-shooters have definitely come in handy, as another one tried to fight me after I’d entered Imperial Space! He flew in a green Eagle, and he pulled up in targeting as "Rich Richie"; he definitely was caught off guard when I turned around and unloaded plasma rounds in his face instead of running away! After local law enforcement dropped in, the pirate was quickly dispatched, and I got a good 10k for helping with the bounty! My very first pirate kill!
Speaking of, I was forced to move from the Meliae sector of the Bubble. Turns out, despite showing in the navi-computer as being Alliance-occupied, the Federal Navy still tentatively operates in the Meliae sector; and sure enough, recruiters started knocking on my door asking if I’d heard about the latest/hottest trend, “please join the Federal Navy."
And since I’m a) against military action in general, and b) pro-Empire, I figured it’d be best to get out of town before they started getting paranoid about my presence.
The Junebug will be left in Meliae, but I relocated to the Cubeo system for a bit, and after another 4 days or so of trading and befriending local groups, I can confidently say that the Mobula is now fully geared to make the trip to Colonia. However, I don't feel comfortable making the long trek just yet; just because I have the right gear doesn't mean I won't suffer some unexpected difficulties along the way. Therefore, I've decided to embark on a "trial run", so to speak.
I was recently contacted by a local engineer, who operates under the call-sign 'Farseer'. They're known for operating on deep-space exploration vessels, and apparently used to be a major explorer back in the day; they've apparently read my journals here, and want to help make sure my trip to Colonia goes without a hitch. If I can grab some materials for them to operate, they're willing to upgrade the Mobula to make further jumps, better scans, and operate smoother. All I need is to first gather some materials for them to operate with.
As such, I have decided to run the Mobula through some shakedown flights.
Firstly, in order to obtain Farseer's upgrades, I will venture to the Pleiades and harvest some materials from Thargoid barnacles; there are several stations out in that area as well, and I can easily run some simple back-and-forth trading runs as I hunt for barnacles. Secondly, after receiving the upgrades, I'll take a test flight to the Witch's Head nebula, and do some exploring around that region. After I've made sure the Mobula's properly geared for long-distance travel, I'll sell off the bits I don't need, and set off for Colonia!
Probably will take me the better part of a month, at the rate I'm going... I really wanna just get started, now that I have the ship geared...
