First Checkpoint Reached
We have safely arrived at the Mammon Monitoring Facility, and have been charting some of the surrounding systems for further bark mound sites. Astonishingly, I found a new type of xenological life form on the planet below; they're these strange luminescent orbs which the codex calls "Bioluminescent anemones". I don't plan on starting another analysis project yet, but I'm definitely curious to see more of these life forms. I collected some samples, and I'll be asking around the facility if they have any special properties.
Strangely, the Mammon system seems to be at the epicenter of a small nebula; I'm not sure exactly how a nebula this small could've formed and still had life develop in the system. Usually, Nebula are formed as a result of a star undergoing a nova, or some similar force which shreds the star apart. Either this star had a companion which must've exploded recently, or this star is going through the final stages of its life. Which... bodes ill for this system, as a long-term home.
In any case, I'll be leaving tonight for the next checkpoint in the trip. Nira was surprised that I haven't run into any large patches of T Tauri stars like he'd been expecting, although I suspect I may end up encountering them in the coming week...
